"Guinness has been dispensed in hospitals, correct?
Yes. In England, post-operative patients used to be given Guinness, as were blood donors. Sadly, this is no longer the case in England. In Ireland, Guinness is still made available to blood donors and stomach and intestinal post-operative patients. Guinness is known to be high in iron content."

Today I'm waiting for Mom, Dad, and Emmy to get here, so I can share the Irish experience with them... I'm a little concerned about them driving here, but if Dad chugs some Red Bull and Mom sleep for the ride over here they'll be fine. Dad will get used to the tiny roads, no shoulders, high speeds, roundabouts and driving on the opposite side of the road by the time he arrives in Spiddal. I'm excited to hear about their 2hr. ride of a lifetime from Shannon Airport.
Today I'd ask if everyone reading this could write a comment and let me know what's going on in their lives... Anything new going on? Any funny stories, news, politics or interesting updates in your life you'd like to share I'd appreciate it. Sometimes I feel like this is a one-way street blog relationship and it's not intended to be that way. Blogs are supposed to be more of an open dialogue with a diverse number of writers. I planned on using this to keep in touch, but it seems to keep me more distant in a way. I understand not everyone has the time to comment, because I don't have the time to respond to separate emails, which is why I'm using a blog to get the word out.
Also, let me know if there's anything you want me to write about specifically. Or if you want me to do some genealogy research for you? Any random questions you want me to ask a local about like: customs, politics, history, business, folk stories, music, the economy, Cromwell, the Irish ties with Minnesota, beer and pubs, Catholicism, or the famine... A question-answer blog might help to diversify my thoughts and help us to all benefit.
In general, I need feedback other than "love the blog"... Do me a favor and tell me what's boring, frustrating, getting old and what would you'd like to see more of in future posts?

Mr. Lais,
Love the blog Buddy! Keep up the good work. As a response to your survey about the beard, I shaved my pathetic attempt at facial hair into some chops this past weekend and let me tell you, It was hideous. Your Burly Bronze mane may be a different story though. It's late here and I'm turning in, so I'll shoot you an E-mail soon to catch up.
Happy Travels,
Craig

Things are good in the Collegeville area. Actually the president of SJU has serious health conditions and stepped down today.
Some kid hit a sprinkler head with a shoe in Tommy 2 long wing. Thank god im on short wing, the fire alarms all went on. After the evaculation, i took a look at the blocked off hallway. about an inch of standing water was on it. all the rooms got soaked in water. It was pretty bad. The carpet looks ruined. It was pretty funny for us on the short wing!
The blog is just fine. everyone likes the interesting way you characterize your events.
This saturday was the big tommie johnnie football game! i thought you would want to know that we just barely pulled off a w 12 to 9! Craig drove catherine and I to UST and met up with pat persons on friday. Then they went to a concert and I got down to business... Catherine and I pointed out your house to Craig when we drove past it. Otherwise things are great here and I love to read about your fun adventures. In the future, you could make a "black blog" like a black market blog of all the bad and crazy stuff you do that your family might not to hear about... hahaha jk man, keep up the great work

Hey Ryan! Things are pretty good back in here MN - I chatted with gram last week, and she said your parents were so excited to see you.
Election season is in full swing - preparing is proving to be a LOT of work, even in little Falcon Heights. I am up to 175 absentee ballots, with over two weeks yet to go until the 4th. Pray for my sanity!
Sara stopped in to Bare Escentuals the other weekend while I was working there, so we got to have a chat. She reminded me about the blog, which is just so, so great. You should write a book about this when you return!
Have fun with your mom, dad and Emmy! Can't wait to catch up with everyone and hear more stories soon.

Ryan, my mom doesn't know how to leave comments on here (even though I explained it to her over the phone at least 4 times) -- she's technologically-challenged... but she's an avid reader of your blog and she loves it! So since she can't speak for herself, I'll speak for her and let you know that you must continue with your blog... Us peons here in the US like to live vicariously through your blog posts :)
